From concept to clean-up, you can rely on us

Established in 1991 and originally trading as Mr Carports, the company quickly grew to become one of Australia’s leading, independently owned, home improvement companies.

In early 2009 the company changed its name to Outside Concepts to better describe the type of structures the company now designs and builds, having earned a reputation for outdoor living construction including high quality carports, pergolas, decks and pool & spa enclosures.

Outside Concepts franchises have built thousands of home improvement projects for satisfied customers Australia wide. Whether your home is a heritage one, a 1960s red-brick bungalow, a contemporary modern abode, or the tiniest cottage, we have the experience and expertise to design, plan, build and project manage your construction at a price to suit your budget.

Outside Concepts builds great things.

Building Regulations

The Building Code of Australia has now become incorporated into The National Construction Code (NCA). The NCC is a set of technical provisions for building work and installations throughout Australia and comprises the Building Code of Australia (BCA), Volume One and Two; and the Plumbing Code of Australia (PCA), as Volume Three.
All construction in Australia must comply with the NCC.

Outside Concepts franchisees are conversant with the NCC and can advise you of the requirements and relevant standards for your construction project. These come into play at several points in a building project – during the planning and application process and at construction time.

Your local Outside Concepts franchisee uses only insured and experienced builders ensuring that all construction standards are met correctly. Read more about our Licenses here.

Local Government Regulations

Every local government area in Australia has a different set of development priorities and constraints that are described in the Local Environment Plan (LEP). Essentially the LEP is designed to protect the local environment and regulate development in each area. This is why certain types on structures are allowed in one local government area but not in another. LEP’s determine the aesthetic and visual guidelines in accordance to the heritage (natural and built) of the area as well as acceptable construction types.

Your local Outside Concepts franchisee has detailed knowledge and experience about what types of construction is allowed and not allowed in your area.

They’re specialists in preparing your development application so as to streamline the process, making it painless and headache free. More information can be found in our FAQ section.
