If you already have a patio for your Adelaide home or you’re looking to build one (we know a company that can help!) how can you take your Adelaide patio to the next level? How can you make it a showstopper that’s the best in the street or, cancel that, the best in the whole suburb?
There are a number of things you can do to elevate your Adelaide patio from a nice outdoor living area to a space fit for a king or queen and, more important, a space you’ll want to spend more time in. Here are Outside Concepts 5 main tips:
1. Install heating and cooling
Compared to some countries, Australia enjoys mild conditions, but in the southern states it can still get very cold in the winter and hot in the summer, and in northern states it can be warm all-year-round. Inside you have heating and/or cooling, so why not do the same in your Adelaide patio, so you can be comfortable in almost any weather? There are a variety of ways to cool and heat your outdoor space, ranging from the relatively inexpensive (e.g. fans and gas patio heaters) to the exorbitant (e.g. outdoor gas log fires).
2. Purchase quality furniture
If your patio currently features the plastic setting that cost $50, it’s time to update. There are two reasons for this, poor quality furniture looks cheap and, perhaps more importantly, is often not comfortable. Invest in quality outdoor furniture and it will lift the look of your Adelaide patio and your bottom will thank you! If space allows, and depending on how you use your patio, consider having a dining setting and a lounge.
3. Get cooking
These days there are a variety of outdoor cooking options available for the patio owner. From the humble barbecue right up to the outdoor kitchen with built-in barbecues and ovens, with smokers and pizza ovens in between. What you buy should depend on how much space you have and how you will use it.
4. Light it up
If you only use your Adelaide patio during the day, you’re missing out on many hours of relaxation and entertainment. To use your patio in the evenings, you’ll want a mix of practical lighting that will help you see (you don’t want to burn the chops, do you?) and mood lighting that will help you relax.
5. Create a green oasis
Surrounding your Adelaide patio with greenery will help to make it inviting and relaxing. If space is tight in your patio or you don’t have any garden areas, you could consider pots, planters or even vertical gardens. Gardens that grow on walls are definitely an outdoor trend and for good reason.
