How can you have the effect of a ceiling in your outside project without the expense?

That was one of the challenges facing Jaan McKenzie from Outside Concepts’ Western Branch in Victoria, when he was asked to build a pergola for a customer in Point Cook. The pergola was to be built to create an outside area to entertain and relax, as well as to take in the stunning views of the nearby lake.

To create the feeling of a ceiling, without actually installing a ceiling, Jaan and the homeowners chose Bluescope Lysaght Flatdek roofing for the pergola. One of the features of this roofing material is that it has clean, uninterrupted lines on the underside and an attractive gloss finish, to provide a ceiling-like look.

That wasn’t the only challenge facing Jaan, however. He also had to comply with strict body corporate requirements before a nail was hammered. While these types of challenges are difficult for DIYers, for Jaan and other Outside Concepts specialists they are commonplace, as they deal with council and body corporate requirements regularly.

The final result is one that looks impressive and meets the needs of the clients, as evidenced by the testimonial they wrote for Jaan.

“Dear Jaan,

“I am writing to you to express my appreciation for your efforts in building my pergola. I understand that you took extra lengths which included time and effort in order to gain body-corporate approval despite their many difficult requirements.

“I have found that the final product of the pergola has exceeded my expectations, and I am very grateful for that also. I would like to thank you, Jaan, for your kind and professional manner, and for your team, with special mentions for John.”
