If you’ve chosen a budget timber deck made from treated pine you may paint it, but if you’ve chosen hardwood or want a more natural look for your treated pine deck you’ll likely want to oil it, or in the case of treated pine apply stain. The process isn’t difficult or arduous:
- First off, give your deck a good brush with a broom.
- Clean your deck with detergent or a commercial deck cleaner and let dry.
- Apply oil or stain with an applicator, roller or large brush. While you can get oil-based products, it’s a good idea to use water-based as it dries quickly.
- Let the first coat dry and apply one or two more coats.
Pretty simple, and your Melbourne timber deck will be protected and look beautiful for another year or more.
