My name is Jaan McKenzie and I’m the branch manager for Outside Concepts in the Geelong area. My service area is large, covering all of Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula, from Angelsea in the west to Little River in the east. I also service the Golden Plains Shire to the north west.
One of my other big challenges provides for me perhaps the greatest satisfaction and that’s overcoming the design and engineering challenges that many jobs provide. Discussing a project with clients in the beginning, working through the challenges and seeing the final result is something that’s a passion for me.
Talking about clients, my aim and Outside Concepts’ aim is to provide client satisfaction and excellent customer service on every job, every step of the way. I moved to Geelong with my wife Tanja and my two beautiful daughters several years ago. Being a local is a great advantage in our field as we get to know the area’s rules and regulations very well. This can help speed up the process of getting planning permission for projects, which can also reduce red tape costs.

This note is in appreciation for the great work undertaken by Outside Concepts Western Suburbs for the design, supply and erection of our treated pine constructed Dutch Gable Verandah.
Jaan and his team displayed a high degree of innovation to integrate the new verandah into our existing home
rafter arrangement, delivering us the design and layout that we wanted. The quality of the final erection result was excellent, especially considering the 3D cutting requirements of the Dutch Gable
design.

We recently contracted Jaan McKenzie from Outside Concepts to design and construct our new deck and external living area.
From the outset the professionalism and communication with Jaan about all aspects of the process was excellent and this continued right through to the completion. The clear timeline provided early in the discussions gave us an understanding of what to expect at each stage of the works.
The quality of work and the contractors on site were of the highest standard with everything returned to normal at the completion of the project.
We have been particularly pleased with the end result as it accurately reflects what we were trying to achieve, we now have an outdoor space that is built for purpose and should last well into the future.
